Genealogy Research Article

If only we could go into a time machine like in the movie back to the future that would save us lots of time and make things easier... in the meantime we can get most of that information through our genealogy tree. Searching for Information into one’s Genealogy Tree The search for answers has always been the quest of man. This can be the origin of the universe or how man evolved and walked the earth. Not everybody has to make something as big such as this. The person can still feel fulfilled by studying the origins of one’s family and letting everyone be proud of the heritage. This begins by asking the simple question of where the family came from. Most Caucasians came from Europe in the 17th and 18th century. Some first came to America as slaves but then became free men after the end of the Civil War. Others came before and after the First World War. The search for a better life continues as some citizens have chosen to defect while others decided to stowaway or sail from Cuba to hopefully land in the southern coast of Florida. The struggle of these individuals carries on in the generations that followed. The person will be able to learn more about this by knowing where to look to get the much needed information. The person can first get information from the parents. These people can speak of other relatives who can also help in the quest. The individual can walk over to the houses of the relatives or call first to set up an interview to help figure out one’s family tree. The answers provided by these people may not be enough. Conflicting stories from one relative and another may happen so the person can make a follow up interview or simply look at the log then see how the story played out. It might be challenging to get information if the relatives are either out of the country or out of town. The wonders of the telephone and email can help the person in this quest to find out the truth of the family. Information about the family doesn’t have to come from blood alone. Neighbors and friends who knew these individuals can also be interviewed. The person might get lucky and meet a former classmate in college or a former colleague from work. The experiences these people shared can also serve as an insight to the kind of person the relative was from childhood to an adult. The person should not be surprised if such information is not willing to be shared by the relative. This does not mean it is a dead end because there are a lot of records that are available for the public from the DMV, the police, the military and the national census. The person should just go down to the respective offices the in less than week; know certain things about the relative. There are some websites that can help get this information. It will involve paying a small fee to use the program and download whatever the individual needs to know. Tracing the family history will not be easy. There might be some setbacks along the way if the relative already passed away or some things don’t want to be discussed. The person should not give up and try another to get around this problem to be able to get the information. The person can look at some old photos, alumni yearbooks, contact some former teachers and friends. The internet and the public service offices can help in the search of the history of one’s family. What would you do if you were to find out through your research in genealogy that you had a previous life? The whole concept of genealogy would have to be redefined wouldn't it?
